DPS Road Test Terms of service

DPS Road Test Terms of Service

Wilco Driving School (C3040) is a certified third party testing site approved and regulated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Our certified examiners are all currently licensed by Texas Department of License and Regulation, and have up-to-date training and thorough background checks as well as many years of experience. All tests are conducted in our vehicles because they outfitted with safety features uses by driver education teachers.

Payments and Refunds:
Payments are due at the time of registration. No refunds are available once an appointment, lesson and/or road test, is scheduled and payment is made.

Requirements:
Before any type of appointment that includes a DPS road test begins, ALL required documents must be presented. This includes a current instruction permit, or restricted license, from the Texas Department of Public Safety.  According to our MOU with TDPS, students who do not have in their possession a valid instruction permit will have to test at DPS or acquire a permit from DPS to test.

Service Information:
Check Ride + DPS Road Test (20-30 minutes):
All appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so your paperwork can be reviewed without cutting into your check ride time short. The check ride allow students the opportunity to get used to the car and the instructor a chance to provide feedback before the test starts. Once the test begins, the instructor will not be permitted to give any instruction, feedback or answers to questions. Students have three opportunities to take and pass the DPS road test. Students who do not arrive in time to test or do not have the required documents will be charged one opportunity. After three attempts, students will then be charged for the full amount and be given 3 more opportunities.

One Hour Lesson + DPS Road Test (75 minutes):
All appointments are scheduled for 75 minutes.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so your paperwork can be reviewed without cutting into your lesson time short. During lessons, instructors can cover areas of concern and provide feedback and instruction on skills that need to be refined. During this time, students can get used to the car and the instructor can provide feedback before the test starts. Once the test begins, the instructor will not be permitted to give any instruction, feedback or answers to questions. Students who cancel this service within 24 hours of the appointment time or arrive without the required documents will be charged a $50 no-show fee before testing. Because the lesson and test are one service, the whole appointment will be canceled as the road test cannot be separated from the lesson. Students have three opportunities to pass the road test, but these opportunities only include the road test. If additional lessons are needed, please see our website for lesson options.

After your test:
Students who successfully complete the road test will be given a sealed packet that includes required documents and the road test results. This packet must remain sealed until opened by DPS.

Students who do not successfully complete the road test will be given an opportunity to reschedule. We recommend rescheduling as soon as possible for various reasons including the possibility of the expiration of your documents.

DPS Follow up:
DPS processes paperwork and issues a license when all documents have been received. This requires an appointment with them which you can schedule at their website. You will need a "change/replace/renew" appointment.
