How does teen driver eduction work?
​
1.) Enroll in a course that meets your budget, timeline and needs
2.) Complete the first 6 of 32 hours and get a permit
3.) Start practicing at home and taking lessons
AND
Complete the remaining 26 hours of the online course
4.) Hold the permit for 181 days and turn 16
5.) Take the road test and take your paperwork to DPS for a new picture changed restrictions

What is required?
BOTH
Phase I:
32 to hours of theory instruction that meets all curriculum requirements by state regulators and is approved by TDLR
And
Phase II:
In car or laboratory instruction that meets all curriculum requirements by state regulators and is approved by TDLR
Plus
Practice Log
30 hours of logged practice at home outside of all lessons.

Phase I
Meets Classroom Driver Education Requirement

All available options offer 32 hour
required Phase I course work. You only need one of the following:

Online Parent Taught (Full Course): 
Our. partners with I Am Road Ready offer a parent taught class that is instructed online hassle free that meets all course work requirements with great customer service and guidance for parents to complete the process at home $99.00 Register Here

Online Instructor Lead (Phase I only): 
Also provided by I Am Road Ready, this online course is just like the Parent taught full course but only provides instruction for the Classroom portion. The In Car portion is provided separately. $99.00

In Person:
​Wilco Driving School does not provide in person driver education at this time. However, if your student needs this service, you can contact our office for referrals for Zoom and face to face options.

​Phase II
​Meets Behind the Wheel Driver Education Requirement

Available options offer flexibility for time and budgets. You can use any one or combination of the following with any Phase I course:

Parent Taught Phase II:
This course includes only Phase II documents and instructions for teaching driving skills at home. This course works well with packages offered below, but you do not need this if you already have the full course $49.50

Simulated Driving Practice:
Students can choose different skills or driving environments for risk free instruction or practice. Simulation can start with basic skills or focus on particular skill development for drivers at all stages. Feedback is provided for all lessons. $50/hour COMING February 2023

Single In Car Lesson:
Pay for one lesson or for your lessons as you go. Either way, you will get quality instruction in a one-hour private lesson addressing your particularly needs $175/hour

Package of 3 1-hour Lesson: 
3 1-hour private or semi-private lessons available on your timeline to meet your needs or practicing particular skills you want a professional to teach. If you need simulated practice, exchange one of your hours for 3 1-hour lessons on the simulators if needed. $435

Package of 7 1-hour Lessons: 
 7 1-hour lessons combines the curriculum for the required  7 hours of instruction and the flexibility to customize instruction as the student expresses a need. Also, students can exchange in car time for simulator sessions if needed. Because these lessons do not include the observation hours, this course does not fill the requirements to complete driver education. It is an ideal supplement to parent taught driver education. $950 Register Here

 7 1-hour lessons combines the curriculum for the required  7 hours of instruction and the flexibility to customize instruction as the student expresses a need. Because these lessons do not include the observation hours, this course does not fill the requirements to complete driver education. It is an ideal supplement to parent taught driver education. $950

All In-Car instruction begins at our office as pick up and drop off are not available. All package contracts have a 180 day timeline. Extensions are $100 per 30 day extension. Refunds are not available for any service for road tests or single lessons or after a 72-hour post contract period for lesson packages.
