The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has eliminated rules for driver education instructor training. However, Wilco Driving School will continue to provide professional service and is committed to excellence in safety and instruction training of exceptional instructor candidates. 

Driving Instructor

  • Texas Driver's License, clean driving record, and pass a background check
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in English and able to work with new drivers
  • Texas Department of License and Regulation Driver Training License. Online and in-car training is provided for the right candidate who currently does not have an instructor license. Licensed instructors provided shortened training and/or supervised provisional period.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Professional appearance
  • Internet access and the ability to navigate online platform
  • Create your schedule (You must be available some evenings, at least one weekend a month, and during school breaks.)

Candidates licensed before June 1, 2023, will participate in an internship and can begin instruction independently once cleared by the school directors.

Candidates licensed after June 1, 2023, may be required to participate in the complete training program depending on training and work history. After evaluation by school directors, a reduced training schedule may be offered.

Unlicensed candidates will participate in the 34.5-hour training program. After successful completion and approval from a school director, you will be eligible to begin providing instruction independently.
